Concentrating in Estate Planning, Trusts, Marital Property, and Estate Settlements

Todd J. Mitchell's focus is on estate planning, trusts, marital property, and estate settlements. In addition, Todd handles real estate transactions and works with small business owners in business succession planning and other corporate matters.  He has over thirty years experience in estate planning and probate, having been a trust officer for two years and in private practice for the past thirty‑one years.  Todd is listed in the Wisconsin Super Lawyers Magazine of 2005 co-published annually by Law & Politics and Milwaukee Magazine. He is one of 43 estate planners (of Wisconsin) listed.  Only 5% of Wisconsin lawyers are listed in Super Lawyers.

A 1965 graduate of Lawrence University, Todd received his J.D. degree in 1968 from the University of Wisconsin Law School. He is a Fellow in The American College of Trust and Estate Counsel and a member of the Waukesha County Estate Planning Council, the Waukesha County Bar Association Estate Planning and Probate Section (Past President) and the State Bar of Wisconsin.

Todd has co‑authored numerous publications on estate planning and is a frequent lecturer on estate planning, Wisconsin's Marital Property Act, charitable giving, and succession and family planning for the business owner and has presented a number of continuing education seminars to lawyers on these topics.

Todd lives on Pewaukee Lake with his wife, Marcia, and is a member of the Oconomowoc Lake Club. His interests include sailing, tennis, golf, reading, and traveling.

In addition to his Wisconsin law practice, Todd and his wife own a home in a golf community in Bonita Springs, Florida, where they make frequent trips in the winter season.  As a result, Todd has developed additional expertise in assisting Wisconsin clients who plan to, or already have, purchased a home in Florida.

Todd has been active in volunteer services, having served for eight years on the Board of Directors of the Lawrence University Alumni Association, with two years as its President.  As of October 1, 2005, he completed his third and final term on the Board of Directors of Rogers Memorial Hospital Foundation where he served eight years, acting in the capacity of Secretary/Treasurer and Chairperson of the Finance and Investments Committee.
